SWING InOffice 2 simplifies MS Office and PDF
integration for Lotus Notes users
December 2, 2003 - SWING Software
today announced the availability of SWING InOffice™ 2.0,
software that fully integrates Microsoft Office and PDF with
Lotus Notes. The new version simplifies document
creation and distribution, Notes reporting, and data
transfer. In addition, with the new built-in PDF
converter, InOffice enables Notes users to create and
email PDF documents with ease.
SWING InOffice is the first tool for Lotus Notes that
provides MS Office integration and PDF conversion in a
single package, removing the need for an external PDF
tool.
"Business users expect to be able to use their
familiar MS Office applications within the Lotus Notes
environment, for document authoring, reporting and data
analysis," said David Jakelic, SWING Software's CEO. "By
integrating MS Office and PDF with Lotus Notes,
organizations gain at least two benefits: improving
end-user productivity, and reducing the burden on the IT
department."
SWING InOffice lets users bind Office documents with
any Notes database, without any design change or
programming. It allows users to easily populate Office
document templates with Notes data, producing
personalized letters, printing labels, Excel reports and
charts, and more. The resulting documents and reports
can be distributed in the form of printed documents,
faxes, or emails - either in the native format or as PDF
documents.
Using Microsoft Office rich formatting and printing
capabilities, Notes users are able to overcome the
limited printing and reporting functions in Lotus Notes,
leveraging their existing skills and investments.
Furthermore, InOffice 2 can be used for importing
documents and spreadsheets into Lotus Notes databases.
It transforms data structures such as master/detail
Excel forms into Notes documents, either as
main/response documents, or multivalue fields. For the
end-user, it takes only a single click in the InOffice
wizard to perform such an import operation.
Support for Excel reports and charts has been greatly
improved in the new version. Besides the standard
"view-to-Excel" features, InOffice 2 produces compound
reports, using data from single or multiple Notes
databases. Users can take advantage of advanced features
in Excel such as PivotTables, conditional styling, and
drilldown to analyze Notes data without having to
purchase specialized OLAP tools. Instead of relying on
IT department developing yet another static Notes view,
business users can now employ familiar Excel features to
re-categorize and chart Notes data.
SWING InOffice provides an Office template database
for documents and reports. By maintaining a centrally
managed template database, organizations can easily
enforce consistency of all business forms and documents.
Using pre-formatted professional Office templates, bound
to Notes data, business users save time and reduce
errors in their daily work.
SWING InOffice supports Lotus Notes versions 5 and 6,
and Microsoft Office 97, 2000, XP and 2003.
